Forgiveness Dalam Menjaga Keutuhan Rumah Tangga Pada Istri Yang Mengalami Perselingkuhan Suami

Abstract

Marriage will not always run smoothly, one of the triggers for rifts in the household is the husband's infidelity because the affair causes disharmony in the family and causes divorce. Therefore, to maintain the integrity of the household, forgiveness is needed. Forgiveness is the process of feeling in forgiving and letting go of various kinds of disappointments and negative feelings to be positive so that individuals are able to show positive attitudes and positive feelings and there is motivation to make peace with something that is disappointing and painful so as to make the individual in a better condition. The purpose of this research is to examine forgiveness in maintaining the integrity of the household in wives who experience infidelity by their husbands and what factors cause the wife to choose to forgive the affair. The method used is qualitative with a phenomenological approach with research subjects of two people who are still married. Subject criteria namely a. Minimum marriage age is 5 years b. Have children. c. The affair was committed more than once. The results showed that the two subjects had different results. MH subject with a marriage age of 17 years has three children, experienced infidelity by her husband 3 times, indicating that she belongs to the hollow forgiveness dimension due to rumination about transgression, namely the tendency of the subject to continue to remember the incident of the affair. Meanwhile, subject MP, who has been married for 40 years and has four children, experienced infidelity by her husband 18 times, indicating that she belongs to the total forgiveness dimension because she can forgive completely. The factors that caused the subject to choose to forgive were quite different between the two subjects, the subject of MH chose to forgive because of the factors of the child, economy, circumstances. While MP chose to forgive because of the future of the child, lineage (heredity), parental support to survive in marriage, religiosity.
